The permanent wave perplex.

The odd thing about the current arc is not that Elly had a bad perm performed by someone mildly incompetent or that once again, Lynn is letting her baffled hatred for any sort of new trend or fashion shine on through by having the overconfident bungler (who, if you've ever watched My Little Pony, was easy to name 'Trixie') parade around in a crop top and speak fluent Val as she tried to upsell an angry Elly on hair care products. What the interesting thing is that the horrible new thing is kinda, well, dated.

The reason that I pointed out that her screaming about the horrible new thing might as well be Mrs Garrett making an idiotic insinuation that leg warmers made Tootie look loose because the old doll's brains are in the gutter really and she's kinda past her sell-by date makes it more or less impossible to see the strip as anything other than a time capsule. I'm fine with looking at "What reproving old biddy hens got their bowels in an uproar about in 1990" but for some reason, Lynn wants to pretend that a story that she's declared to be over is also an ongoing thing happening in the present. This is weird and crazy.
