Meet The Spray-Painted Rose
The interesting thing about next week's arc is not just that we're reminded of Lynn's belief that advertising is an antisocial activity meant to make people spend money on useless things. It's also the first time Candace is set up as a personification of the evil that is peer pressure.
The reason that I mention this is that she isn't actually Elizabeth's enemy as much as she is Elly's. The idea appears to be that she wants to usurp a role that is supposed to be that of a mother and influence the way Liz behaves. This is, of course, utter buncombe meant to protect the ego of a nitwit of near-invincible vanity who brooks no rival.
