Meet The Obvious Child

Of course, James Allen is not the ne plus ultra of Patterson grandchildren. We must remember that April is doomed to marry Gerald and have kids with him so she can give an uncomprehending Becky a huge, self-destructive middle finger. We must also remember that Liz is superficial and irrational and will inevitably object loudly to any attempt April might make to "sully" Liz's "love" for ancestors she was kind of afraid of when they were alive by naming her children after them because she's as terrible at understanding cause and effect as the rest of her family and will blame her lousy childhood on April instead of the idiot parents who neglected her. Her son would thus end up suffering the ignominy of being Gerald Junior.

Ah, well. At least the boy will grow up with no memory at all of his maternal grandparents. There's a good side to every distasteful thing and only having a dim memory of a great big toddler grandfather dressed up like a cartoon moron and an old lady with a loud shrieking voice that proves that witches might be real is that good side. Too bad that it's next to impossible to describe the insane crap John and Elly pull to his descendants.
