Harridan/Human Shield: Meet The Duplicates.

What most people don't usually talk about when they look back at Elly's career of making bad decisions is that most, if not all, of her more questionable attitudes and behaviour patters stem from a desperate need to extract public praise from a mother burdened with the less than helpful preconceptions that her daughter knows that she is respected, thought well of and loved and that praise of any sort will be deleterious to her progress. Marian was never prepared to admit how stupid and literal-minded her child was because nothing in her upbringing and nothing in her cultural background allowed her to allow for the possibility of someone as totally fucking stupid as Elly Marian Richards.

The reason that I mention this is that it's damned obvious that as soon as Liz started being aware of who the people around her were and what they wanted out of life, she started seeing two people as being enemies: the older brother I refer to as a looming shape of nitwitted malice and aggression and the always-angry mother she appears to see as wanting to beat the fucking shit out of her for breathing too loudly. This means that most of Liz's life has been spent trying to not only defend herself from a mutt who can't share because deprivation in the least degree cannot be allowed but to also try to get the huffy dingbat with the martyrdom complex to admit that she's glad she had a daughter. Elly can't allow herself to be glad about anything because the psycho hose-beast sees contentment as an admission of defeat.

  • Meet The Human Shield.

The very distressing thing about the Great Big Sham Wedding is that as far as anyone knows, Liz has no God-damned idea that she took part in a sham…

  • Attention and initiative two: Mikelectric Lizzaloo.

As we know, Elly never managed to disabuse herself of the notion that Mike's job is to take care of Lizzie for her. She's never going to admit that…

  • The inept teacher quandary.

It doesn't take much brainpower to have to realize that John and Elly's 'support' as regards homework consisted mostly of berating their children…
