The league of unreliable narrators..

As I said back when the hybrid was still in its first stages, Mike was the last person I'd trust as the Official Keeper of the Family History because his personal biases would get in the way. What I failed to mention is that he's not alone. Liz, John and Elly each have strong biases and an equal tendency to award themselves glowing attributes they do not possess. An outsider like, say, April trying to determine what actually happened is all but guranteed to never get the real truth about anything. All she'll get is a confusing mash-up of mythology that ensures that she'll say or do things that infuriate someone. It's as if they want her to screw up so they'll have someone to hate.
