John: The joys of weak, lazy men....

It wasn't all that surprising that John's first, last and only impulse would be to coerce April into apologizing. This is because he's too lazy and weak to do what's right. We saw proof of that last year as he dismissed the heartache his daughter felt because of the Housening and the legitimate anger she felt because she was pushed aside as the Creature being in her moods. Finding out what's wrong with her takes too much work and might lead to his having to accept a thing that he doesn't have the courage to face: he, himself, may be in the wrong. Our boy doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to admit that he may be on the wrong side of an argument and never did. As I've said before, he'd rather dismiss Elly's legitimate hostility as her hormones doing the talking than face up to being a jerkoff. You can also forget about any sort of an apology for his dickery. Invertebrates like him don't have the strength for that. What makes him worse is that he has company. Most of the rest of the "male" characters differ in degree with him, not in kind.
