John Patterson: Man of Action...

Over the years, we've noticed that the most decisive person in the strip is John. In a world of equivocators and mutterers, he's the one who can be counted on to do things. They might not always be things he should be doing but at least he's doing stuff. If you were to ask him why, he'd say it's because he was practical. He has a strange definition of the word, though. His meaning of it seems to be a sullen refusal to ask himself why he does the things he does. What's more, he won't ask what's going on around him if he can at all avoid it because he doesn't want to know why people do things. This focus on processes while refusing to consider the human element of the equation isn't really practical at all.
