The phantom checklist.

As you may no doubt have guessed, Anthony's primary motivation in life is to get married so that he may have what he and his mentor John refer to as a home. By that, of course, I mean that he's eager to stop being Françoise's primary caregiver and leave almost all child-care decisions to Elizabeth. His future input would be limited to a John-like mocking of Liz when she did things he disagreed with. This is a problem that could have been discussed before things got too far but, since Liz refuses to think about what she's doing, will seemingly appear out of nowhere and leave her reeling and upset. It's on a list of things that should have been gone over but weren't.

Other entries om the checklist that was ignored are:

- Make a firm decision as to how their finances will be handled after they're married. If they'd gone over that instead of his sitting around drinking beer with Train Man, Liz would know where she stands and be able to plan her future better.

- Make a mutual decision about who babysits. Anthony looks as if he's stupidly going to let Liz make life-altering decisions about his daughter without really caring what it does to her. If she resists Flapandhonk, too bad for her.

- Decide who takes care of their children in the event of their deaths. After all, they don't have a life insurance policy from God that says they'll be there for her formative years. One or both could die. They need to decide what will happen when the un-face-up-to-able happens.

I could go on but listing all the things these two woefully-unprepared people refuse to face would take a week.

  • Meet The Human Shield.

The very distressing thing about the Great Big Sham Wedding is that as far as anyone knows, Liz has no God-damned idea that she took part in a sham…

  • Attention and initiative two: Mikelectric Lizzaloo.

As we know, Elly never managed to disabuse herself of the notion that Mike's job is to take care of Lizzie for her. She's never going to admit that…

  • The inept teacher quandary.

It doesn't take much brainpower to have to realize that John and Elly's 'support' as regards homework consisted mostly of berating their children…
