One of the more annoying features of the Declining Years was that the Pattersons could not at all stand that other people did the things they did. As we all know, Mira was defamed as a villain for even trying to be part of her grandchildren's life. The premise there was that the Pattersons have to get their way the whole time and any concession to other people is a bitter injustice that could not be borne. This amoral morality did not obtain in the first years of the strip, though. Back then, Lynn did not act like a self-righteous teenaged ignoramus so the Pattersons actually had to both accept that they'd misbehaved and pay the consequences. Not so much in the New-Runs, though. Just as RevElly is the self-righteous jerk of today in yesterday's body, the Patterclones are the entitled creeps of today in their younger frames.
