Children: the New-runs' Achilles Heel.

As we all know, Lynn has lost touch with how children behave; the woman who used to give us a fairly accurate portrayal of life with two active, headstrong children has spent the last years of the strip engaged in guesswork; this is because she thinks she needs to have strips featuring cute kids even though she half-way knows she sucks at it. This makes her decision to embark upon the new-runs an act of folly. Here she is, writing about something she can't really picture and it shows. As I've said before, the "children" are simply younger versions of their adult selves and not the realistic figures of the real Early Years. It would have made more sense if she were to either have kept the real-time strip going after Labor Day or shifted focus to John and Elly.
