RetJohn: a failure around the house.....

One thing that hasn't changed in the new order is RetJohn's extreme reluctance to do household chores. While it's true that a far more-organized RevElly is more likely to roll her eyes and do things the right way, meaning hers, than the real Young Elly who more or less just moved the dirt around, both women want their husband to do more than simply sit on his ass. The original John loved to remind her that he worked all day and thus earned a bit of rest and, besides, he had a wife to do that for him. The new-run version, having no past, cannot hold his mother's cheerful love of domesticity to hold over the head of a reluctant housekeeper because RevElly is the overly-tidy drone of the Last Years in a younger body. In any event, he's still a whiny hindrance placed in the way of a busy woman. In a world where motivations alter and history is in flux, it's a reassuring thing to see that at least one thing remains the same.
