The new-model bios.....

There's always been something that bothered me about the bios of the major characters that Lynn has on her website: the people that are described are almost nothing like the people we see in the strip. The most egregious example of this is, of course, John. Much noise is made of his being an honest go-getter who wants the best for his family when, in fact, he's a deceitful and selfish buffoon who thinks that ambition is for saps. Likewise, Elly's biography is a wish-list of great things she wants to accomplish but lacks the tenacity, patience and intellect to ever hope to do. The code word "unfair", of course, hints as to her giving herself an excuse for not being able to do anything. It's all someone else's fault her life is a mess; she's not stupid, disorganized and prone to quit at the first reverse, not her. It's her husband and children that are keeping her down. Mike's bio reads like that of an idiot who'll do anything for attention and Liz's is that of a weak sister who wants a daddy to take care of her forever.
