The further misadventues of Phil Richards......

As you know, Connie was devastated by Phil's inexplicable-to-her departure. That's because she, like a lot of female citizens of the Foobiverse, thought that having sex with a man meant that the man loved her as much as she loved him. She thought there was something wrong with her because he, without really intending to, hurt her feelings. The original Elly tried telling her that she was embarking on a folly because the little brother she knew wasn't quite ready for domesticity yet. He didn't mean harm but he was weak. Instead of sticking to her guns, she caved to the pressure Connie put her under and more or less let her find out for herself. Phil tried to be a gentleman about things and rationally explain that he didn't want to subject a good woman like her to a screw-up like him but it didn't go as he planned; Connie moped for months afterward because, as I said, she thought the problem was on her end. The problem with this realistic portrayal of three basically well-meaning but silly people doing something stupid is Lynn's decision to rewrite history. In the new and improved history, RevElly is deliberately trying to get RePhil and RetConnie to screw up. She wants to lecture to the two of them about how they should live their lives. RetConnie's desperation and silliness have also been amped up so it seems to me that RePhil's attempts at being a decent guy will be altered so that he looks like a callous sex-fiend.
