John confronts Connie's manhunt.....

As I've mentioned in the past, John thought the whole idea of introducing Phil to Connie was questionable at best. He knew that Connie would probably waste her time trying to turn the man into something he wasn't and make a huge, ugly mess in the process, He probably even seems to have been aware that Lawrence would somehow get lost in the shuffle. He also wasn't terribly fond of the relationship she had down the line with Ted because he knew that she'd get her fingers burned. In both cases, he was proven right. Unfortunately for him, that was then. In the new interpretation, he's not allowed the privilege of being right. He has no opinion whatsoever about the Phil and Connie debacle and might decide that Elly simply picked the wrong sucker when she played matchmaker. In his dimmed mind, it would seem obvious that what Connie needed was to be mauled by a selfish momma's boy and his shrewish old biddy mother.
