One thing you can't help but notice when you look in at life at the Pattermanse is somebody, usually Elly, bellowing in fury over a non-event. As a matter of fact, whenver I think of this strip, I don't picture in my mind a group of caring people who occasionally foul up and work things through in a life affriming manner; I see a bunch of people standing around sctraching their heads as they try to calm down a shouting crazy woman. Does she admit that she has nothing to holler about? That her aggression is misplaced? Certainly not! THAT, you see, would mean admitting she was wrong and had to either forgive or apologize to the other person. That cannot be allowed to happen. Her foolish pride simply won't allow it. Besides, like her two equal wrathful and amoral older children, she only values other people in terms of what they can do for her in the first place.
