As I mentioned earlier in the week, the history of the Foobiverse is littered with the human wreckage resulting from tyrannical, insensitive, arrogant fathers who love their power so much, they smugly reject the demands of morality and common decency because they represent obstacles to their pathetic, petty need to get their own way at all times and at all costs. We are told to pity most of the children thus marred by their evil patriarchs. There are four execptions. The first is, of course, Thérèse Arsenault-Caine; she cannot be pitied and probably deserves the mauling she got because she stood in the Pattersons' way. This brings me to the other people who are all right becuase they have the right insane bully dad: Mile, Liz and April. The other victims of the malignant need to shove weak ideas down helpless throats, it would seem, didn't deserve it; the Patterson children do because John is bullying them right. He's just as cruel, inflexible, power-man and selfish as the other fathers but since he's a Patterson, he has a licence to oppress.
