Snarky Candiru2

John and the writing course.

As you know, John's hopes that Elly will want getting a part-time job out of her system prove to be well-founded; that means that the next challenge to his long-term plan of reconciling Elly to the housework that turns out to be the only thing she actually is good at is her wanting to get at least her first year of English Lit courses under her belt before she dies. As I've said in the past, her major confuses and angers him because he's not comfortable with reading books that aren't instruction manuals as they ask that he examine why he thinks what he thinks; he'd rather read his paper and have his opinion spoon-fed to him than wonder who and what he is and why. The only relief is that he knows that Elly is disorganized, lacks patience and tends to quit out of frustration; that way, he doesn't have to lecture her about the toll her studying is taking on the children neither of them seem to really care about as she'll blame her teachers, her courseload and those evil computers for her inability to apply herself to anything that takes real effort.
