Snarky Candiru2

On the alleged toxicity of manga

It has recently come to my attention that Lynn seems to actively hate manga and warns people to avoid the art style as it's poisonous and destroys people's ability to draw or some such nonsense. Given how she's talked about how draining and awful having to erase mistakes is and how she has her characters filled with either despair or rage at something that they're not immediately good at, it doesn't take too much effort to realize that she means that she tried drawing that way on a lark once and was dissatisfied with the results.

The reason that she didn't simply say that she was bad at something and just leave it there but went on to warn people away from something she's bad at is, sadly, rather predictable. Much as Marge Simpson went on record as saying that if something is not to her tastes, no one else should be permitted to enjoy it so she doesn't look in the mirror and see the humorless and reproving buzzkill of Homer being the one that married down, Lynn seems to be the sort of begrudging jerk who doesn't like the idea of people excelling at things that she isn't immediately good at any more than she likes the idea of pounding the pavement like Boring Ordinary Person Jan Eliot.
