Snarky Candiru2

Elly versus bingo.

The interesting thing about this arc is not that we end up learning about this Ed person Thelma took a shine to. The interesting thing is that this is the only time that Elly is ever seen to play bingo. The reason that this happens is that it seems to me that Lynn detests bingo because she thinks that it's a cheap, tawdry waste of time that distracts from having culture rammed down people's throats because it's good for them.

We get our first hint when we have Elly stand around making arch comments about how the players take something she clearly looks down on too damned seriously. The message that sense is that these people are bad and wrong because they don't immediately agree that they're foolishly throwing their time away at something Elly is not immediately good at. If they were good people, they'd select an activity where she could keep up with the pace and not resent it if she succeeded and so on and so forth.

What this tells us is that Lynn must have tried playing once to please someone and didn't do well and didn't get much sympathy and hasn't played since because it's clearly an evil game designed by low-class people who smoke their brains out like bad, stupid people to make her feel like a garbage person who should be shot dead. This is why we have an antagonist in the form of a proto-Fiona.
