The return of Pete Landry.

As you know, Lynn simply cannot be bothered to keep track of what's going on in her own strip; the notion that she must keep her story straight despite it getting in the way of making a stupid pun or leaden piece of social commentary is seen as a rather nasty limitation that haters and picky-faces want to shove down her throat. It should thus come as no surprise that Pete Landry has returned from the oblivion that she had originally cast him into; he never appears in the strip, of course, but he is mentioned as being the biggest mistake that Connie ever made. Originally, she repented having married a smug, controlling jerk who made her give up the job she loved and tried to make her into a whole bunch of things she didn't want to be. The good-looking rat then left her with a child she didn't know what to raise, a mortgage she had to scramble to find work to pay and a pair of cats. Lynn had originally simply decided to retcon a fantasy projection named Pablo DaSilva into being Lawrence's dad and leaving Connie's marriage to Pete as part of history; instead of being Lawrence's absentee birth father, he was simply the creep she married in a desperate and failed attempt to give her kid a dad. It had seemed that even that had disappeared and there was no one between Pablo and Greg but now Pete has returned as a baleful presence. It should be noted that Elly has returned to not understanding or caring what went wrong. Her inability to see that her first impressions of the man were offbase is the same inability that will later keep her from seeing how nasty and revolting Anthony Caine is.
