Holidays make Foobs clueless.....

We've seen two examples of the Pattersons not using their heads and making a holiday more stressful than it needs to be. The first, of course, was the giddy bungle they made of buying a Christmas tree. If they'd have taken five seconds to remember how their own parents did things, they wouldn't have done stupid things like bring a poorly-trained dog along or stuffed the thing in the station wagon because they forgot the rope. This same failure to think things through made them put out the Easter eggs before they went to church so that Farley could eat them and get sick in their absence. The only explanation that actually makes any sense is that they actually didn't watch their parents get ready to do things; having never actually been allowed to help buy a tree or not actually knowing that their parents hid the Easter eggs while they were changing out of their church clothers led them to assume silly things that would hamper them when they became parents. It shouldn't come as too much of a shock to assume that they would react to their parents' explanation of what actually happened with hostility and disbelief.
