Elly’s paved-over garden of memories…..

As you know, I’ve hammered away at how Elly fails to learn from past experience. It seems that she just doesn’t seem to remember the following things:

  1. Poorly-trained pets void where prohibited
  2. Children get dirty
  3. Children watch television shows she doesn’t like
  4. Children don’t pick up after themselves no matter how much she sighs
  5. Children lack fine muscle control and upper body strength so they tend to be sloppy assistants
  6. Children hate her cooking and want foods they like
  7. Children say No and want attention no matter how much she wants them to be little dummies who sit in a glass case and not bug Mommy with their unfair demands for hugs and to be reassured she loves them
  8. Children need supervision if they are to avoid falling down staircases or damned near drowning in rivers
  9. Childproofing devices exist for a reason

It might be that she doesn’t care enough to learn from experience. She might think that if she has to adapt to circumstances, other people ‘win’ and that would be unfair. It might also be that trumanf is right to suggest that her brain is like an Etch-a-Sketch; she wakes up every morning, her memory resets and she has to learn everything all over again.
