Go ask your moron: how they made the children stupid.

The strip that was republished on 30 July 2009 that had Mike ask Elly if Heaven had indoor plumbing reminded me of one of the primary roadblocks to his, Liz's and April's academic careers: their forced reliance for help with homework on a woman who would probably fail the entrance exam to kindergarten. It seems to me that Elly is not only an immature, whiny blowhard who resents being asked questions by people that aren't "mature" (read "cool") enough to be worth her time, she's too ignorant and dimwitted to be able to answer in the first place. Why are they forced to rely on a numbskull like Elly instead of John? Simple: he's the ideal Patterson father so he only parents when Elly wants discipline to stick. He isn't supposed to be their study buddy so it ends up that their grades are always cruddy.
