Hum: the weirdest piece of Lynnglish.

As you know, the characters speak a bizarre language that is similar to English but is not; there are, as I've mentioned, characterstic deviations in usage, vocabulary, syntax and cadence that make it a new and endangered language that only seems to be prevalent in the fictional town of Milborough. One of the single most jarring habits is the habit of ending sentences with the interjection "hum?" when one is turning a statement into a question. Not for the speakers of Lynnglish the sentences "Weird, huh?" or "Beauty, eh?"; since they don't speak anything like English, it only stands to reason that they have their own unique verbal tic.
