Deanna : A symphony in Self Loathing.

I'll bet you're wondering why I assume they'd pack the Patterspawn up to Mira's house when they barely know her. Furthermore, it would seem like a bad idea at first because they're discouraged FROM getting to know her by BOTH parents. THAT'S the problem. Deanna is ashamed of her parents in general and her mother in particular. I can sort of get WHY this should be. I mean, it's only human nature NOT to want to be different. When you factor in that her parents are political refugees, having fled Cold War Poland in order to give their children a better shot than the people at home growing up stupid worshipping some Kremlin-apporoved satrap, her embarassment seems a lot more pointless, not to mention ungrateful. See also STUPID!! So she has to endure a little criticism growing up, listen to how things used to be, so WHAT!! She's a lot better off here in Canada than she would be in Poland even NOW, so she should be a lot more fucking grateful! The fact that she allows Almighty Goldensprog Mike and his loathesome family to warp her children's minds with their bullshit is more than enough reason to deny her anything more than strictly supervised visitation with her 'beloved' children.
