Even more sibling revilery......

As we've seen, Lynn clearly seems to not notice how awful it looks that Lizzie is pushed around so much; many's the time we've seen Mike's casually cruelty or the adult Pattersons' just plain ignoring her when she wants something as not only harmless but funny. The idea seems to be that she has no real right to stick up for herself because being treated like crap is just part of life; she has to learn to take getting jammed up because Mike is trying to make her the fall-guy for Elly's irrational, arbitrary and selfish punishments with less resentment because trying to make Mommy feel bad about doing something stupid is just plain wrong. If ever she does say that something Elly does is unfair, she'll get a speech based on the philosophy Lynn used to preach to Aaron and Katie when they called her on being an arbitrary idiot. Simply put, Lynn seems to have resented being asked to feel guilty about her unquestioning imposition of the same sort of hateful rules her insane, evil drunk of a mother inflicted on her. Since she won't admit that her background was abnormal, she won't admit that trying to replicate it in her life is a bad thing that has only bred resentment and emotional distance.
