Arlo and Janis....

I know that strongly subverted versions of stock characters are not to everyone's tastes; this is why a lot of people find another long-runner to be more their cup of tea: Jimmy Johnson's "Arlo and Janis". What I like most about the strip is that the characters age in the way I sometimes wish that the people in For Better of For Worse did; instead of aging in real time, Johnson slows it down a mite so that he can keep himself from doing something he doesn't really want to do: write an extended arc about a subject. He'd much rather have a slow-paced, gag-a-day strip where his readers can enjoy the ride. On that note, let's go his way for a while.
