Sibling rivalry within Schulz’s void.

As I mentioned earlier, Lucy seems to not want to be especially pleasant company; there’s a spark inside of her that makes her unable to be truly content with the world around her and about the only way she can get through the day is by spreading the pain around. I’ve mentioned how she loves to take it out on Charlie Brown but only peripherally alluded to her discontent with Linus. For reasons best left unsaid, she seems to labor under much the same misapprehension that inspired Michael Patterson to be a repulsive dick to Elizabeth and shares his hope that somehow this ‘unwanted’ person that shares her living space might somehow vanish thereby returning the world to her idea of normal. The primary means of attack is to try to separate him from the coping mechanism he uses to deal with the pointless aggression that he lives with every day: his security blanket. Were an adult to allude to the fact that her hateful behavior is why he carries it around non-stop, her deep-seated need to be a contrary-minded imbecile would somehow twist sense into self-justifying nonsense that reaffirms her right to be a total frakking greaseball. When one contrasts that with her championing Rerun, it starts to get you to wondering if the real problem is that she thought that she should have somehow been consulted before Linus’s arrival.
