Stereotype Alley.

As melashaan noted yesterday, Scancarelli isn't just occupying space that could be used for a new voice to make itself heard; he's also reinforcing antiquated belief patterns that went out with horse-drawn garbage carts. As by way of example, the last extended arc that featured a younger character had Idiot Hillbilly Girl Stereotype Amanda Lynn get engaged to Effete Lying Snob With No Morals Stereotype Sturdivant Kleeb; the problem was, well, both characters disappeared as a fact from the American landscape at roughly the same time one needed at least a bachelor's degree for any job that didn't involve wearing a paper hat and asking the customers if they'd like to gargantu-size their order. To put it bluntly, it's as tough to find a real-life Amanda Lynn as it is a dimestore Gatsby like Sturdy Kleeb; the problem is that the same old, old people who'd object if Scancarelli finally put Walt out of his misery want to think that Dogpatch still exists.
