Cloning Blues.....

The problem with the success of the franchise is that Hanna Barbera couldn't resist giving into the temptation of having other sets of meddling kids racing around solving mysteries. This is owing, of course, to a failure of the imagination that the industry is prone to. Scooby isn't the only one to get cloned, though; we also have to contend with an endless array of police procedurals that glamorize and distort the life of the lab technician, armies of fat, shlumpy idiot husbands and their way-too-hot-for-them put-upon wives, wave after wave of snotty children and, of course, Seth "Paint By Numbers" McFarlane. That's because TV isn't about making art, it's about making widgets; my guess is that the next installment in the franchise will be a cooking show.
