Georgia Redux...

The interesting thing about the whole Connie-Phil-Ted-and-Irene is not just that Ted ended up losing out in the end because he ended up with a wife who knew all his tricks and thus had a lawyer on standby when he pulled the same stuff on her that he did with her. It's that Phil, of all people, came out on top; that's because he wound up with Georgia Nolastname. As I've said before, she and he seem almost tailor-made for each other; what I mean by that, of course, is that she's a walking, talking example of the sort of cliche DC Comics villain Black Hand used to spout before they repurposed him as a death god. Said old chestnut is that "Behind every great man, you'll find a good woman." Her purpose in life is to more or less wean him from the sort of mother worship that transfixes John; since, at the end of the day, Phil is slightly more mature than John is, I'd be willing to declare her the superior wife to Elly. It's her competence at turning her husband into Domestic Man despite himself that seems to be the other great reason that she and Phil appeared less and less over the years.
