Gerald and Becky, a proposal (in both senses of the word.)

As we know, Lynn loves to conserve humor in her strip by reusing motifs; she not only has to have people "sticking with their own kind", she insists on having people who are "irrationally" jealous of the dreary collection of white trash called the Pattersons deciding to slum with the amusing troglodytesbefriending swell people they've misjudged. This is where Candice comes into the picture; she went from being Elizabeth's high school antagonist to a fairly close surrogate to a friend. She might not have a traditional sort of life but, since she and Rudy aren't traditional people, Lynn deigns to allow them their eccentriticities. I should think that she has the same thing in store Gerald and Becky; since they insist on playing music for a living instead of making a hobby of it and doing jobs they hate like the no-talent jerks like Elly and John would have them do, it's for the best that they live in sin together and leave April to enjoy her country-girl life in the remote, minor cowtown Calgary, Alberta. That way, smug vermin who don't want to ever admit that envy, spite and petty malice define who and what they are get to feel good about being really bad.
