On being inconvienced and its discontents.

As we've seen over the years, the Pattersons simply cannot handle frustration at all well; the least bit of inconvenience either gets them enraged or makes them collapse into tears like the immature twits they are. The reason that John, as by way of example, constantly jabbers stupidly about defiance, anarchy, chaos and the complete overthrow of civil order by evil, ungrateful brats who want to disobey him because they're evil is because he's a thin-skinned goofball who doesn't really like what he sees in the mirror, needs to build himself up by riding roughshod over people and simply cannot handle even the tiniest setback.

Similarly, Elly jabs her fingers in the air like a freaking lunatic and blathers angrily about stuff she knows little about because she dreads the remote possibility of not owning horses, Mike wasted his life being pointlessly upset because he didn't have the kid brother he wouldn't have gotten along with any and Liz goes berserk because people don't bother including a wallflower in their reindeer games.

What makes this all the more ridiculous is that, as I've said before, these nitwits think that they're paragons of the virtues of calmness and fair-mindedness; since they're too in love with themselves to realize that they are not fooling anyone, they've no idea why people call them fractious ogres.
