The caretaker effect

As we know, someone in Lynn's life seems to have come to the conclusion that the same person who let other people do all the heavy lifting she was too bored to do despite probably being able to do so can no longer function in a way consonant with her own self-interests. The most telling symptoms are the cancellation of the treasuries, the sudden-but-overdue dismissal of a long-term assistant and the decision to donate her rougher material to an archive in order to tidy up her living space. One is reminded of the horrible mess Pam and Jeff Murdock from Crankshaft have to go through to convince his mother to accept help she doesn't want because she's too proud to see how helpless she is. Given that Lynn is only sixty-seven, it's rather depressing to see this rapid a decline in her. It might be that very soon, the new regime might think that just as the treasuries no longer serve a purpose that the reprints are best left handled by the Syndicate.
